Richardson has been building caps for more than fifty years, and the 112 is the one everybody knows — a structured trucker with a mesh back that holds its shape through a full season. We decorate every Richardson model we stock, and we do it one hat at a time or four hundred at a time.
What goes on them
Two finishes, and they are not the same thing.
SolidCore Embroidery™ is our own finish, and it is the reason people pick up a hat and then look at it twice. It gives you real stitch texture — you can see it, and you can feel it under your thumb. And it holds fine detail that traditional embroidery fills in solid.
Laser engraving is the other one — leather and leatherette patches, burned on our own lasers, for when you want the clean branded look instead.

112 or 112FP? The seam.
This is the question we get most, so here is the honest answer. The 112 has a seam down the centre of the front panel. The 112FP does not. That is the entire difference between them.
By itself it is mostly personal preference — call it 75% preference, 25% design. The 25% is patching. Without the seam you get more of a blank slate; with it, the seam can affect how a patch sits in subtle ways depending on the design, the colours and the material. Often you would never notice. Sometimes you would.
If you are unsure, send us the artwork and we will tell you which one we would press it onto. That is part of the design help, and it costs nothing.
And the 115? Height.
The 115 is the Low Pro — low profile. It is not as tall as the 112, and that is the only difference between them. Same six-panel build, same mesh back, same snapback, same seam. Some prefer the look of the shorter crown; for others it is simply the fit. If you have worn a 112 and always found it a touch tall, this is the one.

The minimum is one
Not one dozen. One. There is no setup fee either — the first hat costs what the fiftieth costs, so a single hat for one person is a real order here and always has been. Everything is made when you order it and ships from our shop in Avon Lake, Ohio.
Design help comes with it
You do not need finished artwork. Send a rough sketch, a photo, a logo in the wrong format, or just tell us what you are after — we will work the design up with you at no extra charge. It is part of the order, not an add-on.
Or we bring the hats to you
The Hat Factory Xpress® is our pop-up hat bar — nine presses on site, and your guests pick the hat, the patch and the rope themselves while they watch it get made. It runs at golf outings, corporate events, weddings and brand activations across Northeast Ohio and well beyond it.
