Astronomers confirmed that a system about 12,000 light years away is the first microquasar ever found inside our own galaxy — and a microblazar at that, meaning one of its two jets happens to point nearly along our line of sight.
A stellar-mass black hole is pulling material off a companion star it circles every 11.4 days and firing the leftovers out of both poles at close to the speed of light. The gamma-ray photons in that beam carry roughly ten times the energy of anything the Large Hadron Collider makes. Theorists had predicted these things for about thirty years; interstellar dust had hidden this one the whole time, and it took a radio network rather than an optical telescope to finally pick it out.
It is, in the friendliest possible sense, a gun barrel pointed at the Earth from 12,000 light years away. It is also completely harmless. Both of those facts belong on a hat.

- Patch: matte black carbon fiber patch, custom contour cut with no border — die-cut to the twin-jet silhouette, a bright central disc with a flattened accretion ellipse across it, one long needle-thin jet and one short blunt jet ringed where it aims at the viewer. No lettering. Sized by height to roughly 2.5 inches.
- Cap: Richardson 112 structured trucker — cotton-poly front panel, mesh back, snapback closure. The Dusty Rose/White option is an Infinity Charlie ponytail cap.
- Six colorways: White, Black, Navy/Caramel, Kelly/White, Heather Grey/Black, Dusty Rose/White (Ponytail).
- Made to order. Each patch is cut and finished when you order it.
